Treeline Pass is proud to present our first annual Heartwood Award to Dr. Ellen Roy Elias, MD, FAAP, FACMGG.
Dr. Elias is a pediatric specialist board certified in Clinical Genetics and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. In 2001, she moved to Denver to serve as Director of the Special Care Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Colorado, the largest clinic of its kind in the US. Under her leadership over the last nearly 25 years, the clinic has grown from serving 1,300 patients to over 5,000 patients.
Dr. Elias has 45 years of clinical experience caring for children with developmental disabilities. She is a full professor at the CU School of Medicine and has served on the Committee on Children with Disabilities of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Sub-Committee on Autism. She was one of the original geneticists to discover the cause of Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome and has led research on the association between Down syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Dr Elias received her BA in Chemistry from Princeton and her MD from NYU School of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and her Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. She has been married for 48 years to Dr Anthony Elias, a Medical Oncologist at UC Health. They have three grown children and four grandchildren.
